Well, now, Fast Company thinks this could get interesting. It’s the first time the World Cup is going to the Middle East, and a country where the air temperature hits 130 F on occasion.
That would seem to call for lots of air conditioning to avoid broiling your average athlete, but Qatar says it is aiming for a carbon-neutral event. Oh yes, and the 12 stadiums it is going to build are to be somehow taken apart and then rebuilt as 22 stadiums elsewhere.
Did I mention that 5 of the 12 stadiums are to be designed by Albert Speer Architecture? Son of Albert Speer of Third Reich
fame infamy? And this in a country where “Israeli citizens are legally barred”?
The politics and PR are gonna need some of that air conditioning.
